How to split a tweet thread on X
Write your full idea in one document, paste it here, and copy each part in order. A good X thread opens with a hook in part 1, delivers one idea per tweet, and ends with a clear CTA. This splitter keeps every segment at or under 280 characters (or slightly less if you reserve space for “2/12” numbering).
Breaks prefer paragraph and sentence boundaries so you are not cutting words in half. After copying, paste into X or schedule the sequence with Postmixr.
Splitting longer posts for Threads
Threads allows 500 characters per post, nearly double X. Select Threads in the dropdown when your copy is denser or includes short lists. The same splitting logic applies; only the limit changes.
- Use the character counter tool to double-check any single post before publishing.
- Copy one part at a time or use “Copy all parts” with separators for your notes app.
